If you are a martial artist who has ever taken a punch or kick to the stomach during a sparring match (probably all of us!), then you know the importance of building yourself a shield of muscle to protect your organs! Not only does it feel horrible to get punched in the gut without a six pack to flex, but it can also cause you to get the wind knocked out fo you more easily, which in a real street fight means more time for your attacker to hit you while you try to recover your breath!
