Hey babes! Looking for healthy high protein snacks on the go? Check out my convenience store haul, and see what I like to pick up on my way to the gym or after working out. The plus side? You can pick up all of these snacks and drinks at your local convenience store, so you don't have to worry about making a trip to the grocery store or bringing meal prep with you! It's pretty much the easiest pre-workout snack or post workout high protein snack you'll ever have! First things first, I always love to get a coffee while I'm out and about. I am a self-proclaimed coffee addict, and I literally cannot live without my daily cup of joe. Whenever I am about to head to the gym, I like to have a nice cup of coffee as a pre-workout to help me power through my toughest training sessions. Sometimes, pre-workouts that are designed to increase your energy levels can have bad side effects or cause your heart rate to accelerate to an unhealthy level while you are working out. Since I love to eat clean and natural, I also like for my pre-workouts to be natural. That's why I prefer to drink a natural caffeine source before a workout, like coffee!
The next thing that I buy at the gas station when I am about to work out is a high protein snack! I love to buy protein bars because they are quick and easy, and they are easy to stash in your gym bag. Before a workout, I preferred to have a source of carbohydrates, to give me the energy that I need to power through a tough workout. Afterward, however, it is important to feed my tired muscles by providing been a good source of protein. That is why many people like to bring a protein shake to the gym! Sometimes I bring a protein shake, but when I am on the go and I need a quick high protein snack, I just swing in to my local convenience store on the way to the gym and pick up a Quest bar or two!! They are super tasty as well as quite high in protein and dietary fiber. The protein will fuel the muscles that you just exhausted in the gym and allow them to grow, which is how you make gains. I will grab a couple of these on my way to working out, and have them immediately after my workout is finished to ensure that my muscles are properly refueled.
