My wife Suzanne & I wrote this song for our Easter services at Lake Pointe Church a few years ago - one week before Easter! We were sitting in a planning meeting about 9 days before Easter weekend hit, and our pastor decided that we needed to add a song right after his message that illustrated how it feels to be on the receiving side of God's grace, after the fact. I had been playing around with the chord progression a couple days before, so Suzanne and I sat down and finished the song in about a day. After that, we did a quick rough recording and shot it to our string arranger, and this is what it sounded like a week later! The violinist is Michael Shih, concertmaster for the Ft. Worth Symphony. He's playing a $6M Stradivarius violin.
If you'd like to use this song, I'm happy to give you the lyrics, charts, recording - whatever you need! You can download all the parts and pieces here, and I also have the string arrangement you hear on this video and mp3. That's not posted here, but is available if you want it. In case you'd like to follow along with the song, here are the lyrics:
I never knew how much you loved me
Or how that love could set me free
And when you gave your life away
You gave it for me
Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
I canʼt believe how you forgive me
And how you let me start brand new
And everything that Iʼve done wrong
You donʼt remember
Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
INSTRUMENTAL VERSE
You take wrong and make it right
You take death and make it life
You rescued me - I donʼt know why
But thank you
Jesus, thank you
Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace
Amazing
I guess thatʼs why they call your grace Amazing
Thatʼs why I call your grace Amazing
Thatʼs why I call your grace Amazing
Amazing
If this song fits a scenario at your church, feel free to use it. I'd love to know if you do, though, and how it works for you. I'm privileged to be the worship pastor at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall Texas, a regional church with 8 campuses across the state of Texas. Check us out if you're ever on the east side of the DFW metroplex!
