Medicare coverage in South Dakota can save you a lot of money even though you still have to pay for it. With this type of plan there are 10 different options that you can choose from. But I only recommend 3 of the 10 plans to all of my clients. Those plans are plans F, G, or N. These plans are all different from each other. They are good for all different types of situations and price ranges. The good thing about these plans is that you can go to any doctor you want as long as your doctor accepts Medicare. You are not in a network with this type of plan. Also with these plans they are standardized which means it doesn't matter what insurance company you go with the plan benefits won't change. The only thing that can be different and change is the price of the plan. The insurance companies can charge different rates than each other. So all you have to do is figure out what insurance company is offering the cheapest rate for the plan that best fits your needs.
The Senior Supplmental Plan F is the best plan that is available to you in the Medicare Supplement world. With this plan you are 100% covered. You are not responsible for copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles. This plan is going to be the most expensive plan but hey, you are going to be 100% covered.
The Senior Supplement Plan G is the second best plan that you can get. With this plan you will be responsible for the Part B deductible $166 per year, along with the monthly premium. This plan is very similar to the plan F. You still don’t have to pay for the copayments, and coinsurance costs.
The Senior Supplement Plan N is a little different from the other two. But it’s still as simple as you let it. With the Plan N you have to pay for the deductible of $166 per year, if you go to the doctor you can pay up to $20 copay, and if you go to the ER then you could pay up to a $50 copay if you don’t get admitted into the hospital.
Medicare in South Dakota
Medicare in South Dakota is the same as any other state. As you may know Medicare only covers 80% of the medicare-approved costs. Which leaves you with the other 20% to pay for. There are 4 parts to Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Part A of Medicare is what takes care of the inpatient or hospitalization part. Part B takes care of the outpatient costs, such as, x-rays, lab work, doctor visits, ER visits if you don’t get admitted into the hospital etc. The Part C or what most people call it is a Medicare Advantage plan. What this does is it’s not really a secondary insurance plan but takes over the Original Medicare Parts A and B. Last but not least the Part D of Medicare. This is the prescription drug coverage. This helps cover the prescription you take day to day.
