Mascara Primer
If I had to pick one makeup item as my favorite, it would be mascara. Being a natural redhead, my eyelashes aren't the darkest, so a nice, dark mascara really help make me look more awake. I have three mascaras I would say are my favorites, however, if I had to pick one, then it would be the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. I have been using this mascara for years and it continues to be one of the best. So while I was at Ulta I saw the
L'Oreal Voluminous base/primer and I immediately got super excited.
I have said this before, but every time I talk about mascaras I feel it needs repeating, I naturally have very long lashes that curl up (I know, I am super #blessed). I have used a mascara primer before, the Benefit Cosmetics They're Real, primer, it's good stuff, but it's not cheap. So I bought my favorite drugstore mascara's prequel, with high hopes of mega lashes.
When it was time to film I sat down and applied the mascara primer and it was white on my lashes, so it's not exactly a stand-alone product, unless maybe you want to make white eyelashes a thing. Anyway, I applied the mascara on top and I noticed nothing. To be fair, I noticed nothing bad, but I noticed nothing good. The L'Oreal Voluminous mascara did a great job, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, I didn't achieve the mega lash look I was hoping for. I decided I would check in again on camera later, just to make sure no flaking or smudging happened because of the primer.
Well, while I was out, I decided to check in with my husband. I asked him if he noticed anything different with my lashes, being the good husband he is he said they looked longer. Now, I am pretty sure he said this simply because he thought it was what I wanted to hear (and to be fair to him, it normally is!) so I take what he said more as appeasement rather than a fair critique of the product.
When I got home later, I checked in. No flaking. No smudging. Nothing bad. This product still left me disappointed, maybe it was because I went in with such high hopes, but really I have to say, I would advise simply buying the mascara. It's absolutely amazing on its own, or if you want to spend the extra money, then maybe go try out Benefit Cosmetics They're Real mascara or Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Both are amazing, but they are far more expensive than the L'Oreal mascara.
I hope you found this review helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video and read what I had to say on it! Wishing everyone an amazingly wonderful 2017!
