Have you ever felt like you were beyond the reach of God? It’s something that many people feel, and it’s something that evil plants in our hearts and minds. Children are often told or feel they are inadequate, and can’t live up to the standards of people around them.
We should encourage everyone that God is both big enough to create the universe and all time, and small enough to care about the tiniest things in each of our lives, even the lives of children. Jesus spoke of this huge love for the smallest in his creation in Matthew 10:29, when he said,
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.” (Matthew 10:29 NIV)
So sing this truth into your heart, and into the hearts of children. No one is beyond the loving grip of our God. We will often tell ourselves that we’ve done too many bad things, or rejected him too often, or that something in our history makes us undeserving of his love, but that’s not how God sees it. Instead, he sees each of us as worth dying for, as more important than the tiny sparrow.
