This is an amazing reverb pedal that seems to provide endless amounts of amazing reverbs. The Big Sky flawlessly recreates all of your favorite spaces and has a few special tricks of its own. Strymon really did their homework before building this pedal. The studied all of the famous reverb units, algorithms, and techniques players have used over the last several decades. In the process, they created one of the most versatile and creative sounding reverb pedals on the market.
Strymon Big Sky Banks and Presets
The Big Sky feature 100 banks with three presets each. In effect, this gives you 300 presets for storing all of your favorite settings. At this point, most of you are probably thinking, "How could I possibly use 300 reverb presets?". While this is definitely more than you will ever need I've found that having even 3 presets has really allowed me to use reverb in new and creative ways.
Big Sky Reverb Types
You also get 12 different reverb machines including:
Hall
Plate
Room
Spring
Swell
Bloom
Cloud

Each of these reverb machines have their own unique parameters that are fully customizable as well as your typical reverb parameters. The Hall, Plate, Room, and Spring machines are spot on representations of all of each delay types. The remaining reverb types add in their own modulations and flair to create sounds you have never heard before. While everyone is a big fan of Shimmer, the Cloud reverb has really stood out as a fresh and unique reverb we haven't ever heard before.
Cab Filter
Leaving no stone unturned Strymon left a nice parting gift for all of us. Since Reverb is typically last in your signal chain, Strymon has built in a complex Cab simulation EQ in case you ever find yourself playing direct into a system. Now your overdrive will sound closer to an amp drive and your cleans will have a little more warmth and punch. Just be sure to turn it off when you switch back to an amp!
The Strymon Big Sky is an amazing reverb. It may come with a high price tag, but it is unquestionably worth the money. If you are in a creative rut and looking for inspiration you can find it right here. Check out this pedal, you won't be disappointed!
