Inspired by the bluesbreaker, the JHS Morning Glory is really what put this company on the map. This pedal is a truly transparent overdrive that is perfect for the early gain stages on your pedalboard. This gives your tone that extra grit or sparkle to cut right through the mix and help your playing stand out. If you prefer amp overdrive, this pedal also functions as a good clean boost to help push an amp into overdrive territories. The Morning Glory will work to bring out the tonal qualities of your guitar, because of this the Morning Glory can sound totally different depending on the person using it.
Pulp n' Peel
It seems like one of the most asked questions is What is the best compressor pedal. The JHS Pulp n' Peel always makes the short list. On their website, JHS refers to the Pulp n' Peel as the compressor pedal for players who don't like compression. Aiming to enhance your tone rather than squash it, the pedal helps sustain your notes without coloring your tone. There are 4 main controls: Volume, Comp, EQ, and a Blend knob. You also have the option of a dirt switch which will blend a little bit of drive into the compressed signal. This little bit of extra dirt will give the player some interesting texture options. The latest version of this pedal (version 4) also offers up a XLR direct out, allowing the pedal to be used as a direct box.
The JHS Superbolt has only been a part of the family for a few years, but it has quickly made a name for itself. One of the more unique drive pedals on the market, the superbolt emulates the tones of the old Supro Amps. The controls on this pedal function more as if it was an amp as well. You still have the three traditional overdrive knobs: Volume, Tone, and Drive, but the Drive is more like a Gain or volume control on an amp. Volume becomes your master volume. Now you can bring the pedal output back down to useable levels once your drive is set. Finally, players can use the tone knob to clean up any high-end fizziness or booming lows.
Typically when you think of guitar tone the word recording console doesn't come to mind. This is what makes the Color box so interesting and unique. Rather than emulating and amp or vintage pedal, the Color Box recreates tones from the old Neve Recording Console. In case you are wondering what that sounds like, think Revolution by The Beatles. Other famous artists including Led Zepplin and Steely Dan have also recorded on this same console. These awesome tones, easy to get in the studio, are harder to recreate on stage. The team at JHS decided to do something about it, and the end result was this quirky little pedal.
This recent JHS release caught everyone's attention right away. The Kilt was created in partnership between JHS Pedals and StuG of Delirious. StuG. Working in both studio session, and performing live on stage, StuG wanted a pedal that could be used in almost any application. The Kilt is the final result of their collaboration. This pedal was designed to give the player everything from transparent drive to a thick Fuzz.
this pedal features two different channels. This right is a JFET Boost responsible for the light overdrive. The left side is based on the Expadora and opens the door to Fuzz territory. The 2-in-1 design allows these channels to be used simultaneously or independently. This opens up The Kilt to be used for almost any situation. This pedal is incredibly flexible and would be a perfect fit on any players board.
