This octave guitar pedal by Electro Harmonix is a great tool to have on any pedalboard. It has plenty of amazing textures that can really help change up your tone when things are getting a little stale. This pedal can help you emulate a twelve string or bass in an instant, or add some chime and shimmer to your tone.
Ambient Tones
For the shoegazer type the Micro Pog can help create some cool swells. Add a little bit of delay and reverb and both the octaves for a long haunting organ type swell. If you are looking for more industrial type tones and a heavy overdrive for a bit crusher type of effect. Try using just the plus one and minus one octave with out the dry signal for your haunting tones. No matter what you are looking for the Micro Pog can really add a new and unique texture to your tone
Solo Lines
This guitar pedal can add a nice punch to any lead line. If you need a little more power to the hook you are writing try kicking on the sub octave and see what happens. This is also helpful for when you are the only electric guitar player in the band and are within you had someone to harmonize with you. This pedal is also cool because it adds some really cool overtones that you wouldn't normally hear on the electric guitar.
I personally like to pair this pedal up with a little bit of compression from my Walrus Audio Deep Six Compressor. This tightens everything up and adds some nice sustain to my overall tone. You can actually hear that combo in this video as well as some light drive added by the Bodi Effects Sick As Overdrive.
