I remember when I listen to this tune the first time an I was completely blown away. Well, you know how it is, once a song gets stuck in your head it won’t let go of you anymore. So, I ultimately decided I wanted to do a cover version of Brand New by Ben Rector. I have been a fan of Ben Rector’s for so long, and this new album he just released is his most honest and filled with so much hope. I tried to focus on the message and spirit of this song. And there is a real message here. To me, this song is all about second chances. Treating each day as a brand new day, every moment as a brand new opportunity to experience something incredible. It’s so easy to get caught up in the motions and routine of life, but this song encouraged me start where I am and treat every day like a chance to experience beauty. By the way, have any of you guys seen Ben Rector live? I read somewhere about the Ben Rector Tour. I sure hope he will play a few gigs around here where I live. Even though, to be honest with you, I’d be willing to travel a little bit just to catch him live. Alright, I quickly wanted to share with you how I approached the little cover project. In a first step, just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything, we googled “brand new lyrics ben rector”. Then I looked in Guitar Tabs to find the chords for this song. I decided to go the ukulele route with this song; I thought it would add a new light to the song. Alright, that’s it. Again, thank you so much for supporting me.
